The Risks Associated with Pork Consumption
Pigs' unique biology, including minimal sweating and a rapid digestive system (processing food in about 4 hours versus up to 24 in herbivores), allows for quicker accumulation of contaminants from their omnivorous diet. This heightens risks from parasites like Trichinella spiralis (causing trichinosis with muscle pain and severe complications) and Taenia solium (leading to cysticercosis, seizures, or death). Globally, these parasites contribute to millions of infections and thousands of deaths annually, per WHO estimates.
Processed pork like bacon is classified as a Group 1 carcinogen by the IARC, equivalent to tobacco in cancer risk potential, due to nitrates and hydrocarbons formed during processing. Regular intake can raise colorectal cancer risk by 18% per 50g daily.
The Health Concerns with Shellfish: Shrimp, Lobster, and Other Varieties
As filter feeders, shellfish accumulate toxins, heavy metals, and pathogens from water, processing up to 20 liters daily. Parasites like Anisakis simplex cause anisakiasis (abdominal pain, vomiting), while Vibrio bacteria lead to vibriosis (diarrhea, sepsis in vulnerable groups). Triggers hyperactivity, ADHD exacerbation, allergies, DNA damage, colonic inflammation, and potential cancer links via contaminants like benzene.
About MSG (Monosodium Glutamate)
We also ban MSG, which, despite FDA approval, is linked to obesity, metabolic disorders, neurotoxicity, reproductive issues, and symptoms like headaches, flushing, and heart palpitations in sensitive individuals. High doses may cause oxidative stress, inflammation, and organ damage.
